Mission Statement
Welcome to Word Covenant Christian Church, where Christ is the living Word. We follow the Head of the church, which is Jesus Christ and no other (Ephesians 5:23-24, Ephesians 4:4-6). Our trust is solely in Him, for He is the King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16), and all authority has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18).
We believe in the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit — 3 in 1 John 10:30-33, Genesis 1:26, John 1:1-3, Mark 12:36, 1 John 5:7-8, Philippians 2:9-11) as well. Even though the word itself isn’t in the Bible, the concept is biblical — in the same case as the word monotheism. It means there is one God (1 Corinthians 8:6), which is true, but the word itself isn’t in the Bible. We also believe that Jesus is the only truth and that there is no other, for He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). We believe in the gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-11) and callings (Ephesians 4:11-13) are for current day, and that the Holy Spirit is still moving since the word of God says these things will come to an end once the fulfillment of God reaches completeness and we are done away with the flesh and are one with Christ Jesus completely, (Ephesians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 13:8-10) and if it wasn't for today, that would mean God would have changed, but we see that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Our focus isn’t the saving of souls, because it’s our Lord and Savior who paid the price and did so (Colossians 2:13-15). Our focus is on the will of the Father (Matthew 28:19-20, Matthew 22:37-40), and through this, God will use us in ways that don’t give glory to self (1 Corinthians 1:26-31), but all praise to Him (Psalms 150:6).
We are vessels for the Holy Spirit so that Christ (John 8:12), portrayed through us (Matthew 5:14-16), can meet you where you’re at, so you can come to know Him and have a relationship by you going to seek Christ on your own time (Matthew 7:7-11), in the secret place (Matthew 6:5-6).
We are only called to shepherd the flock and lead them to God (1 Peter 5:2-4), so we are here merely to sharpen (Proverbs 27:17)/ teach (Acts 18:24-25)/ plant — and God is the one who brings increase (1 Corinthians 3:6), for nothing can grow unless the light is shining on it (John 1:4). So the Lord will give you growth through the abiding with the Holy Spirit (John 15:1-11).
We keep our focus on our first and most important call , which is our call to Christ before anything because our Lord is priority in our life (Romans 8:28-30, Mark 12:28-30) — and we abide with the Holy Spirit to know His character (John 14:23). Abiding is the process of seeking His face ( meaning presence Psalms 105:4). This can be through either reading the word, worship or prayer in your alone time with God, which then this process will lead to us becoming more like Him not through us getting more of his Spirit since we have all of it but rather us surrendering more to God through the time we spend with Him leading to less of us and more of Him inwardly resulting in us bearing fruit (Numbers 17:7-8, John 15:1-6, Galatians 5:22-23). Even though this seems like you'll be doing the same thing over and over but in by seeking Him you'll seek the newness that is above the sun (Romans 6:4) for under the sun their is nothing new (Ecclesiastes 1:9-11).
Our most valuable possession we own is the opportunity to have a relationship with the Lord (John 17:3) — and this is the ultimate treasure that we have stored in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).
What God wants from all of us is our time and devotion to come to know Him (1 John 5:11-12), so that we may be saved (John 17:3). But we don’t merely do it to be saved, but rather because of who God is (Romans 5:6-11) — and we genuinely love Him (1 John 4:19).
Even if your walk doesn’t start out like that or your motives aren’t all the way right with God, if you keep looking to Him and abiding in the pruner’s presence, the bad will be cut off, and it will give opportunity to bear much good fruit (John 15:1-2). The Lord will reform you to His likeness (Romans 8:28-29) — not just in the way we are, like in Genesis, but now it’s who we are becoming in the inner man (2 Corinthians 4:16), because we are the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 10:16-17), and He’s the head (1 Corinthians 11:3), and we are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28-29).
So if you are in a position where you no longer want your life or you’re looking for something more, give your life to Christ Jesus. He’s the more and the new life you are looking for (2 Corinthians 5:17). He’s the missing piece that we lost when mankind sinned against God and became 2/3rds complete — for He is what makes us whole. In Him is fulfillment (Colossians 2:9-10, John 1:16). There is no other like Him (Psalms 86:8, Exodus 15:11, Isaiah 44:6-7).
So all it takes is to repent (a change of mind derived from the realization of the goodness of God Romans 2:4, Psalms 34:8) and believe in what Christ has done for you (Mark 1:15) — when He went and took sin upon Himself and became sin, so that we can be saved from the punishment of eternal damnation (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Also remember, it was never His will for mankind to go to hell (2 Peter 3:9). But this only happens because He gave us free will, so we can come to choose Him ourselves — with true love, not robotic love. But in doing so, it caused an opportunity for the enemy to be given the authority and led humanity astray by deception and through our fleshly enticement, which caused man to lean on our own understanding instead of keeping what God said close to heart (Genesis 3:1-19).
But the Lord’s plan of sending Himself to save us and bring us closer to God than we were before — by the Holy Spirit living in us rather than on us — led to us becoming heirs of Christ (1 John 3:1-3). Showing God’s character of how He turns the bad into the good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28, Genesis 50:20, Philippians 1:12-14).
So don’t worry about the punishment (Matthew 6:25-34), but keep your minds on Christ, (Philippians 4:8-9) and through that, we will be united with the One who has defeated death and made a way (2 Timothy 1:9-10) — and who is the Way to the Father (John 14:6).
God only punishes because He is a judge, and if He didn’t judge, there would be no judgment for the wickedness, which is sin. And when have you heard a righteous judge let someone off for a crime? No matter what, there’s always some type of judgment (2 Timothy 4:8, John 5:22-24, Acts 10:42, 2 Corinthians 5:9-10, Revelation 19:11-13, Psalms 9:7-8).
But also, He is our Father — of those who are in Him (Galatians 4:6) — which He then chastens by convicting them where they’re wrong (Hebrews 12:4-8), and then showing them the right way of doing so, by leading by example and in following suit after Him, we submit ourselves to the Lord, obeying the first commandment the Lord has given us (Mark 12:30) — leading to this not bringing condemnation (Romans 8:1), but rather increase in mercy and grace (2 Peter 3:18, James 4:6, Hebrews 4:14-16). The only commandments we follow after are the two that Jesus laid out, which captures all others (Matthew 22:36-40).
The Lord showed us the right way rather than giving us the judgment we deserved. But that’s the thing — even when we are not faithful, God is. And that’s why we look to Him, because even when we are not for ourselves, He is (1 Corinthians 1:9, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Deuteronomy 7:9, Isaiah 49:7-8).
So look to Christ in everything (Colossians 3:1-4, Hebrews 12:2). Don’t allow yourself to be shackled by anything. The Lord has already overcome it all (John 16:33, Romans 8:37-39). The change doesn’t always happen in a day, or even a week, or even a month, or even a year — but it will happen on the Lord’s time (Ecclesiastes 3:11, 2 Peter 3:8-9), when you’re ready, and it’s not gonna be something you willfully fall back into as you abide in Him (1 John 5:16-17).
So don’t lose the relationship — it’s a lifestyle, not something on and off. For we are no more, but a new creation in Christ Jesus (Galatians 2:20).
God bless you all, and Jesus loves you (John 3:16-17) — and so do we too. ❤️
